INQUEST INTO THE DEATHS OF FORMER ANC PRESIDENT GENERAL INKOSI ALBERT MVUMBI LUTHULI AND HUMAN RIGHTS LAWYER GRIFFITHS MXENGE

The African National Congress (ANC) draws the attention of the media to the scheduled proceedings at the Pietermaritzburg High Court, related to the formal inquest into the tragic and unresolved deaths of the 8th President General, Inkosi Albert Luthuli, and anti-apartheid lawyer and activist, Griffiths Mxenge.

Both figures hold a sacred place in the history of our struggle. Inkosi Luthuli, a former President General of the ANC, the first African Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, and a martyr of our struggle was a symbol of moral resistance and a tireless advocate for non-racial democracy. Griffiths Mxenge, a fearless attorney and martyr of our liberation movement, paid the ultimate price for defending the oppressed and exposing apartheid atrocities.

Their deaths remain deeply etched in the conscience of our nation, and this inquest represents a long-overdue step towards truth, justice, and accountability.
